My Story
Hi my name is Sam and I have Transverse Myelitis which I have had since I was 22 years old. I had a virus attack my spinal cord which paralysed me and I had to learn to walk again, but I'm now on crutches and I use a wheelchair due to pain and I get really tired very quickly and need to rest a lot. I also have type 1 diabetes. I have a husband, 2 children and a dog Hunter (spaniel) who is completely crazy but we love him. Both my children have Autism and other mental health issues like depression, anxiety and OCD. My son also has Type 1 diabetes. I'm also a voluntary peer support worker and I work with families of SEND children to help support them with their struggles. I'm a DiAS Ambassador and help run a face to face support group in my local village.
