How To Add Discount Coupons

Here’s how to offer discounts in your shop 👇

  • Go to the Coupons tab in the admin area.
  • Click Add New Coupon to begin creating a discount code.
  • Use this starting point whenever you want to offer a special promotion to customers.
  • Look for fields marked with an asterisk (*); these are the required fields.
  • Fill in only the required fields if you want a simple coupon.
  • Use extra fields for more flexibility with your discounts.

  • In Coupon Code, enter a short code customers can type at checkout.
  • Example: use something like birthday10 for a birthday promotion.
  • Add a Description for internal reference only.
    • This description does not display on the website.
    • Use it to note the purpose of the coupon, such as 10% off for my 50th birthday.

  • Select whether the coupon is a percentage discount or a fixed amount discount.
  • For a percentage offer, leave the type as percentage and enter only the number (for example, 10).
  • For a fixed discount, enter the amount only (for example, 10 for £10 off).
  • Do not include currency symbols or the percent sign in the amount field.

  • Use the customer restriction field if the coupon should only work for certain people.
  • Enter the customer’s email address exactly as used on the site.
  • Add multiple email addresses separated by commas if needed.
  • Use this option for private or personalized coupons.

  • Limit how many times the coupon can be used overall if needed.
  • Set the total usage count to 1 if the coupon should only be redeemed once.
  • Set a per-customer limit if each eligible customer should only use it once.
  • Leave these fields blank if you do not want to restrict usage.
  • Enter an expiry date if the coupon should only be valid for a limited time.
  • Use this for short promotions such as a birthday weekend or holiday sale.
  • Leave the expiry date blank if the coupon should remain active until manually removed.

  • Tick the option to exclude sale products if the coupon should not apply to already discounted items.
  • Use this when you do not want discounts to stack on top of sale prices.
  • If you advertise the coupon, clearly state that sale items are excluded.
  • Enter a minimum spend if customers must reach a certain order value before the coupon applies.
  • Use the Products field to limit the coupon to specific products only.
  • Use the Exclude Products field to block the coupon from selected products.
  • Use Departments to apply the coupon to a whole department.
  • Use Exclude Departments if you want to prevent the coupon from working in a specific department.
  • Choose the simplest restriction method that matches your promotion rules.

  • Tick Display coupon in your shop if you want visitors to see the coupon publicly.
  • Leave it unticked if the coupon is meant to be private or customer-specific.
  • Use the display option only when you want a visible promotional coupon on the storefront.
  • Tick the free shipping option if the coupon should also remove shipping charges.
  • Leave this unchecked if the promotion only applies to product discounts.
  • Confirm that the coupon rules match the intended offer before saving.

Click Create to save the coupon.

Visit the shop to confirm the coupon appears correctly if you opted to display the pretty coupon.

Test the coupon at checkout to ensure it applies as expected.
